On March 20, 2019, Prof. Hashimoto, Chairperson, and Mr. Watanabe, Secretary General, had a meeting with H.E. Ms. Isabel de Saint Malo de Alvarado, Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama at the Panamanian Ambassador’s official residence. Chairperson Hashimoto stated that MIF has ever invited and hosted 2 Panamanian researchers during the past 40 years, however, none since 2004. It is a strong hope for MIF to receive more applicants from Panama. The Vice President replied that 2019 is a special year for both Panama and Japan as it is the 115^th anniversary year since the bilateral diplomatic relationship was established. The enhancement of the academic exchange between the two nations is an important subject and the Panamanian Government likes to provide all the necessary supports.
